No Petticoats Here - Stories of First World War Women Through Song
Award-winning singer, songwriter and musician, Louise Jordan shares the stories of inspirational women who challenged expectations through original song and storytelling. From the woman who dressed as a soldier on the Western Front to the women football players banned by the FA, the ambulance drivers running the gauntlet of enemy fire in Flanders and the so-called ‘surplus million’ single women.
Members of Stanchester Quire will be performing as part of the show. Stanchester Quire is a community choir, established in 1996, singing unaccompanied carols and Folk songs collected from the South-West of England under the directorship of Eddie Upton. Pete Says: Dorset-based Louise has visited us many times, and has also performed at Petherton Folk Fest. This promises to be a very special night of Theatre/Music, all on the theme of the women in the First World War. It is sure to be a long-remembered event.
