Artists of the Year Port Fairy Festival 2018 - Best Duo BBC Folk Awards
“They light up the room with their amazing energy” James Taylor
With 22 years of unrivalled musical partnership gathering numerous nominations, awards and critical acclaim along the way, English singer-songwriters Chris While and Julie Matthews will be touring the UK throughout May promoting their newest release ‘The Best of While and Matthews Volume 2’ which includes key tracks from the last half-dozen studio album.
Last year saw them perform at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards alongside Boo Hewerdine, John McCusker and Kris Drever and later in the year they toured the UK with all-female supergroup 'Daphnes Flight', after a 21 year gap, bringing audiences across the country not only to their feet, but also to tears.
In 2018, Chris and Julie are more powerful than ever and remain at the very top of their game. They have just returned from their 12th tour of Australia, where they are much loved. This year they were given the honour of being named ‘Artists of the Year’ at the prestigious Port Fairy Music Festival, the biggest event of its kind in Australasia.
"The undisputed queens of British folk duos continue to come up with the goods,
1st class songs delivered with to die for harmonies, immaculate musicianship & melodies that lodge themselves in your brain". The Guardian.
"Chris and Julie are on top form and can't put a foot wrong" fRoots.

Chris and Julie are regulars with us each December as part of St Agnes Fountain. Last with us as a duo in Autumn 2014, when they gave an outstanding performance that was loved by all. Without doubt two of the most talented musicians on the circuit, who always show their true love of performing and audiences always leave having really enjoyed a night of great musicianship and superb material.
