Blowzabella celebrate 40 years of their inimitable, drone-based wall of sound with a new album and a visit to The David Hall (one of their favourite venues).
The band members are Andy Cutting (diatonic button accordion); Jo Freya (vocals, saxophone, clarinet); Paul James (vocals, bagpipes, saxophones); Gregory Jolivet (hurdy-gurdy); David Shepherd (violin); Barn Stradling (bass guitar) and Jon Swayne (bagpipes, saxophone).
They compose dance music influenced by English and European Folk traditions. Many of their tunes are ‘standards’ in the British/European Folk repertoire.
Blowzabella will play music from their new album as well as plenty of old favourites. Come and dance or just listen.
Tickets: £16 Full. £5 Under 25s.
Blowzabella Dance Workshop 6pm – 7pm £3 CLICK HERE to book separately
Dance workshop for all ages and abilities. A quick run through the main dances that the band will play this evening. It’s not about being a great dancer, it’s just that dancing to dance music is better than just listening to it! The band will play acoustically so it’s also like an unplugged gig.
Tickets: £3 donation to The David Hall.
This ‘Supergroup’ was last with us in May 2016, when their performance was described by all as one of those 'truly special' nights. They are without doubt one of the most influential bands in Folk music, whose reputation and support is stronger today than it has ever been. This is another 'not to be missed' gig!
